I'm running my first marathon in aid of Cleveland mountain rescue. It's a fabulous organisation dedicated to ensuring our safety when we're out on the hills. They're staffed completely by volunteers and completely reliant on donations and grants for equipment.

On a personal note they co-ordinated the extensive and prolonged search with the police for my friend's mum Barbara Colling when she went missing on the North York moors. A more dedicated and professional bunch of people would be hard to meet and they did a fantastic job over nearly 3 weeks. I've chosen them to support with the marathon to show my appreciation for all their hard work.
