Stop Press:  BAD NEWS / GOOD NEWS

Sadly I received this notice yesterday from event organisers:

"1630hrs-17/08/2010 GREAT SCOTTISH SWIM POSTPONED
The Event Safety Group advised The Great Scottish Swim which was due to be staged on Sat Aug 21 Strathclyde Loch has been postponed due to blue-green algae. This has been taken in the int
erests of safety of swimmers after stringent checks by The Scottish Environmental Protection Agency" :-(

The GOOD NEWS though, is that I am still swimming! :-)

We have cancelled ferries and car hire, made phone calls, carried out recce's of other sites and have managed to source an alternate for this Saturday the date of the swim (rather than wait for a replacement date from Scotland which may or may not have suited family commitments);

1200HRS 21/8/2010 THE JENNY D "GREAT" CAMLOUGH LAKE SWIM
- Just me and a Mile course on a big bit of water courtesy of Newry Triathlon Club!

I hope you don't mind that all money raised from this alternate event will still be forwarded to "Wooden Spoon".  We do plan on making this as big an "event" as we can and will take lots of pictures to show you all.

Thanks for your tremendous support to date and I will keep you posted on how I get on.

Best Wishes
Jenny

PLEASE DONT STOP GIVING - LETS BLOW THIS TARGET OUT THE WATER!! - Thanks for taking the time to visit my page.  I am taking part in the Great Scottish Swim on 21 Aug 2010.  I hope to swim a mile in Strathclyde Loch to raise money for "Wooden Spoon" the children's charity of rugby.  All the money raised will go to support projects in Ulster.

In the UK, one child in every hundred suffers from a lifelong
disability that will profoundly affect his or her ability to lead a full and happy life.
More than 3.5 million young people grow up in low income households or
live in an environment where they are subjected to poverty of aspiration.

Wooden Spoon, believes all that all children and young people deserve the chance to live happy fulfilled lives regardless of the challenges they may face.

Spoon harnesses the spirit and values of Rugby to give disadvantaged children and young people in the UK and Ireland a chance to achieve their full potential in life.
