Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Please review the website http://www.london2brightonchallenge.com Yes seriously I have entered the London 2 Brighton challenge. 100KM. Walk it. Run it. In my case crawl or roll it. I have even managed to rope in a few others to join me. How mad are they? Listening to me for 20+ hours.
The question you are all asking is why; why; why? especially at my age and size? Well it must be a good reason to get me to walk 60 miles and it certainly is. Some of you are aware my wife in early September 2012 was diagnosed with an aggressive tumour (cancer of the oesophagus). This coincided with my son starting secondary school and his twelfth birthday. And telling a 12 year old that his mum has cancer is not easy. To say we were both devastated would be a huge underestimation. In fact I was lost for words, of which has happened only once before in my life. When my mum washed my West Ham shirt on too high setting and the claret and blue run into a royal Millwall blue (over the last months we have laughed, but there have also been plenty of tears).
I wanted to give something back to all those who have been so supportive. Doctors, nurses and friends I cannot thank everyone enough. And this is why I am doing this challenge (and believe me walking 60 miles through the night off road will be a challenge).
Please support me and my friends. I realise it’s Christmas and money is tight for everyone, however, every penny will help. Macmillan Cancer Support is such a wonderful charity – please visit their website: http://www.macmillan.org.uk .
Best wishes
Jeremy (Clarke)
