Over 150,000 of us in the UK have MS. It’s unpredictable and different for everyone. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We’re the MS Society. We understand what life’s like with MS. We're here for you through the highs, lows and everything in between. Together, we are strong enough to stop MS.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm doing this 26 mile walk along the South Downs with my wife Paivi, and our friends Stephen, Amanda and Jon. The event takes place on 18th May 2013.

Paivi’s younger brother Kari has a brilliant personality and a great sense of humour. Unfortunately Kari has had to live with Multiple Sclerosis for most of his adult life. It’s a condition that has left him unable to work and sometimes barely able to walk. Despite the enormous difficulties that he faces in his daily life Kari nearly always has a smile on his face and is outwardly cheerful and positive.  Looking at him you can't help wondering how his life might have been if he hadn’t been struck down with MS when he was only 21 years old.

Sadly there is still no cure for Multiple Sclerosis only treatments that  sometimes reduce the frequency and severity of the symptoms.

That’s why we are taking part in the Sussex Downs Trekathon on 18 May to raise money for the MS Society so that hopefully one day in the not too distant future there will be a cure for Multiple Sclerosis and people like Kari will be able to enjoy a normal life.

We’re going to be walking 26 miles (around 40 kilometers) over a very hillly route along the South Downs Way from Lewes to Beachy Head. We’re going to try and complete the walk in 10 hours (but could be longer!).
