Myositis Support Group

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

So here's the deal. As many of you may know, I often do an active event to raise money for various charities. WHY? Because I am fortunate enough to still have my health, physical mobility and I enjoy the challenge.

Many of the people I'm raising money for do not have all of these attributes so I feel a very small amount of my time and effort combined with the rest of my team will go a long way to providing valuable research, equipment and care to these organisations.

This year I am abseiling 230ft down the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth on Bank Holiday Monday 27th May to raise fund for the Myositis Support Group based in Woolston.

Myositis,Polymyositis and Dermatomyositis are related illnesses affecting muscle and connective tissues of the body.  In most of these conditions, the voluntary muscles undergo degenerative changes due to inflammation. The main symptom of these illnesses is muscular weakness, which may be progressive and can be severely disabling. Initially it is not usually painful in children and noticeable weakness may develop gradually over several months.

This means I have 13 days to raise at least £250.
