Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Not many of you know this....

Prior to 6 months ago I'd never run and didn't really want too either.

That being said I will be running 10k on the 17th March which is when my younger brother would have turned 40 if he'd hadn't died of a very rare genetic disorder which caused him to get cancer at 21 that went undetected until it was too late.

Very few people know that I also have this rare genetic disorder as do my 5 other siblings.  Considering the odds were 50/50  of us each having the disorder we are quite a 'special' family with all of us having it!

If it wasn't for the research that cancer charities do I would have already lost another 2 close family members so I am very grateful, that me and my family, are so well taken care of so if we do get cancer it will be detected early.

My brother was a runner.....so I have been training very hard and am doing this 10k run to honour his memory and make him proud....and if I can raise a bit of money for the Irish Cancer Society too in the process all the better.  I've never done a sponsored event before and don't intend to again (unless I'm still running in another 10 years!) so if you can spare a few euro please do so, as so many of us will be touched by cancer at some stage during our lives.
