Story
In September 2009 when I was 11 years old I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and underwent 7 months of chemotherapy and hospital stays. I lost my hair and felt pretty awful for a long time.
My mum contacted Rays of Sunshine and they granted me the most amazing wish. Exactly a year after I was diagnosed, a limo collected my family and me from our home and took us to London's Oxford Street, to Top Shop, where my sister and I had so many wishes granted when we got to go shopping with LEONA LEWIS!!!!! She was AWESOME and we had the most amazing day - we both ended up with some clothes - and Leona chose some of the same stuff as me!! My sister so deserved to be part of the day, because when I was really ill, it was really hard on her too. And Rays of Sunshine made that possible. We felt so happy after such a bad year.
On 22nd September 2012, 3 years post diagnosis, and 2 years after my wish day (& because I've just seen my consultant who has confirmed that the cancer is still in remission!!), I've decided to walk with my sister and some friends, the 13 miles from home to Addenbrooke's Hospital - the journey that we did day-after-day - to raise money for Rays of Sunshine.
Unfortunately, Addenbrooke's is busier than ever looking after really sick kids; and I hope that in a small way my walk can help those brave children and their families get an amazing memory too.
