I'd love this challenge to be a little more rum and a little less run, but that'd be easy. After a year of running retirement, I've got my trainers back on and I'm racking up the miles ready for race day.
As a company, we're trying to raise £100,000 for our charity, The Quilter Foundation. There are 100 places at various races, and each runner is aiming to raise £1,000.
The Quilter Foundation was set up in 2017 to support the many thousands of young people in our communities who live with daily social and domestic challenges; helping them to overcome barriers to prosperity. We do this by building partnerships that improve educational outcomes, employment prospects and individual health and well being. Today, there’s an estimated 700,000 young carers in the UK, looking after loved ones with disabilities, long-term illnesses, mental health issues or addiction problems.
Caring for a loved one from a young age can have a serious impact on a young person’s future prospects, education outcomes and mental health. That’s why we have launched the Young Carers campaign, a collaboration that aims to invest £1.5m over three years to give tens of thousands of young people the chance of a brighter future.
