In August 2012, I intend to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in order to raise funds for the next Dig Deep water project. I am fundraising for Dig Deep, a charity that aims to provide sustainable solutions to problems faced by communities in Kenya. Over the last 4 years, Dig Deep has helped provide a clean sustainable water supply to over 25,000 people and renewable cooking gas supplies to 5 schools and orphanages. By donating to Dig Deep you are enabling projects such as building boreholes, digging shallow wells and harvesting rain water.

What is the importance of clean water?

It dramatically reduces the spread of diseases such as typhoid, dysentery, amoebae and trachoma. Further to this, it promotes gender empowerment as women and girls no longer have to walk up to 12 miles a day to collect water. In turn, this means that girls have time to receive an education. It also enables local people to better sustain their livestock in times of drought.
