After finally qualifying as GPs Jess and Katie are off to spend 2 months working in a rural health clinic in Southern Malawi. The clinic is run by a small charity called FOMO (Friends of Mulanje Orphans) and is part of community based orphan care programme which cares for over 5000 orphans. We'll be working in the clinic looking after children with diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis, AIDS and malnutrition. We will also be providing health education within the community to raise awareness and help prevent these diseases. They have a great website (http://www.fomo.co.uk/) if you would like further information.
In order to raise money for this small charity we have decided to take on Mount Kilimanjaro at the start of our trip and would be grateful for any money you can donate. We hope to climb to 5,895 metres (or 19,341 feet) over 7 days, camping on the way, in an attempt to summit the world's tallest free standing mountain!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
