Story
I have decided that I would like to venture into new challenges and thought I could do this for a fabulous charity. I have entered this monstrous challenge set by DSUK, Disability Snowsport UK, having only learned to ski in the last year.
I am taking part in Disability Snowsport UK’s National Skiathon 2012 – The Olympic & Paralympic Challenge, a unique event now in its fourth year. Along with other team members we have to ski or board the slope at Castleford together with skiing celebrities, the British Disabled Ski team and some of the UK’s top freestylers and help raise money for skiers with disabilities.
The event was really successful in 2011 with participants making a huge fundraising effort and bringing in a fantastic amount of just over £27,000. This makes a massive difference to people living with disability who want to experience the thrill & excitement of the slopes just like everyone else. 'Snowsports give disabled people a method to conquer the barriers that confront them in their daily life.' I am fortunate enough to have the health and the means to enjoy many sports, but most disabled people don't share my fortune. They’ve set their sights even higher this year with a fundraising target of £35,000 and I need your help to help them do this.
Teams of 6 are taking on the challenge of skiing 2012 runs in 6 hours taking place at 6 indoor Ski Slopes across the country. Any donation, no matter how small, will be thoroughly appreciated!
So please dig deep and donate now.
