I MADE IT!

The walk started and ended in lovely sunshine, but there was  torrential rain and even hail on the middle days. I had a great send off from the Philippine Embassy on Saturday, some great company along the way, and friendly faces to meet me in Brighton.

Thanks to everyone's generosity I have raised over £4400, which includies an amazing donation by HSBC's Manila operation to match the first £2000. So every blister (and even losing a toe nail) was worth while!

I have been Patron of PCF for nearly 5 years ever since I first visited Smokey Mountain dumpsite in Manila. I was struck not only by the worst slums that I had ever seen but also by the smiling faces of the children, who for the first time had access to education. Since then the school has grown and we are about to open a new 4 storey building made out of container vans. In the new school we will be able to educate 1000 children and hopefully lift them and their families out of poverty.

Jane Walker, the founder of PCF, has recently been named as one of the Women of the Year in the UK for her outstanding achievements and tireless dedication to one of the poorest communities in the Philippines.

I am aiming to raise £1000 to build a toilet block in the new school.  After that each £350 will build a small dwelling to  house a family of up to ten. £5000 would fund a classroom. More information about PCF can be found on the website www.p-c-f.org

My 60 mile walk from London to Brighton will start in Trafalgar Square on Saturday November 28th. I hope to complete the journey in four days but it could take longer! I would be very glad of some company along the way! But above all please give generously to help some of the poorest but most delightful people.
