BUPA Great North Run 2009 · 20 September 2009 ·

Dr Kershaw's Hospice provides free, specialist, end-of-life and palliative care (an area of healthcare that focuses on relieving and preventing the suffering of patients) for adults with life-limiting illnesses in Oldham and its surrounding areas in a peaceful and homely environment.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am doing the great north run to raise money for Dr Kershaws hospice in Oldham. As this is a small hospice and not a massive national charity, it doesn't get the exposure and fundraising that the larger charities get so every penny really does count for them.

I particularly wanted to raise money for them as a dear family friend was due to go to them in his final days of suffering with throat cancer. Everyone at the hospice was really kind to us in our difficult time and all of the arrangements were made for the move. Sadly time was against us and Harry passed away just before he was due to move there and so never made it. The staff couldn't have been kinder to us and I wanted to give this lovely place a bit back after all of their support.

You should sponsor me for the following reasons:

1. Its a great charity that really appreciates every penny

2. It will be a big challenge for me as I really have not trained enough and I don't even like running all that much!

3. I sponsor everyone that asks me and so you should sponsor me back.

It would really mean a lot to me if you could sponsor me. Please do it now - don't leave it until later as something else might come up and you might never make it back to my page - please dig deep and donate now.

thanks so much xxxxx
