Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 13th September 2009 I took part in the Parachute Regiment ‘P’ Company Challenge (http://www.paras10.com/pcoychallenge.php) in order to raise funds for The Airborne Forces Charities. The race is run over the same 10 mile multi-terrain course as that used for the final Airborne Forces qualification test in the North Yorkshire Moors, and under similar conditions: a 16kg bergen and boots are worn. From a field of 2500 runners I came 20th in a time of 1 hour 27 minutes, huzzah!
The Charity
Airborne Forces Charities is a grant giving foundation which supports the well-being of serving and retired soldiers of the Parachute Regiment, associated units and youth organisations. It grants funds to organisations who support this target group rather than perform the services itself.
Aid is provided to:
- Serving members of the Parachute Regiment and their families
- Members of the Parachute Regimental Association
- Qualified parachutists serving in armed forces units with an airborne role
- Retired members of the Airborne Forces
- Youth organisations that would benefit from the ‘Airborne Spirit’ ethos
