A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS SUPPORTED US!!!

Set off on Friday night for Loch Fyne - the start point for the race.

Not content with making us start at 7am the organisers kindly arranged a very steep and long Day 1 including a 1000m Munro climb and decent midway through the day.  No problems with navigation this year although we forgot about the sun - great burnlines below the knees. Liam was not impressed with my choice of energy snacks either. What's wrong with Ginger and Pinapple bars?

Mid-point overnight camp at 450m  - big smelly men, small tent - lovely - and a 6am Bagpipe wake up call - nice.

For Day 2 see Day 1 with added wet weather gear.  Another 1000m Munro climb although made even worse due to not being able to see the top.  My trainers gave up at that point - they've gone in the bin now - but we made it back by mid afternoon.

Very sore feet, back, legs and neck but a real sense of achievement.

Fish Supper and home to bed.

Our sincere thanks to all of you for your support - we really appreciate it.

Jim and Liam

In December my five day old son Edward was admitted to North Staffordshire PICU suffering from a kidney infection which caused septicaemia and meningitis.  He was extremely ill and on full life support with more tubes in him than London Underground.

The clinical staff on the unit were utterly fantastic – they tweaked and altered his treatment until his vital signs improved. They never left his bedside and didn’t seem to eat (but insisted we did) and eventually his condition began to improve.

Edward left the PICU shortly before Christmas and was back home with his brothers on Christmas Day – the best present Jane and I could ever have.

So as a thank you for all their efforts I thought I’d put some effort in.  Many of you will know I do a bit of running so I have decided to do the Lowe Alpine Mountain Marathon, with my good friend Liam Bergin. Its a two day event where you orienteer 40k over the Scottish Highlands carry a pack and tent; camp on the mountain, get up and do it all again the next day!

So if you could support us supporting them we’d really appreciate it

Thanks

Jim & Liam
