In June 2008 we had Emily, our wonderful little daughter, who has a genetic condition commonly known as Down Syndrome (DS). Down Syndrome Education International (also known as "DownsEd" and "the Sarah Duffen Centre") has provided a huge portion of the information and support. Their research has made significant advances in understanding the educational needs of children with DS, providing information and support worldwide. Also their classes (which Emily attends) support parents in early interventions that have enabled significant advances in the achievements of individuals with DS. They have achieved huge advances in the integration of individuals with DS into society and gaining their independence. Their research doesn’t just benefit those with DS, but also benefits children and adults with other disabilities and learning difficulties. So to raise some money to support this fantastic cause, and (altruistically) shift some of the increasing amount of lard from my frame, I have decided to run the Great South Run. A 10 mile run around Portsmouth which I aim to complete in under 1hr 30m. Please sponsor me so other parents and children with DS across the globe can receive Downs Ed support.
