My Dad, Douglas McIntosh, died in July 2009 after suffering from Lewy Bodys for 12+ months, although we didn't know what exactly it was at the time. He was an intelligent, articulate and caring person who had contributed much during a long career in mathematics and computing - he was part of the team that designed the early nuclear power stations. Towards the end, he became someone who struggled to remember the names of those closest to him. It was difficult to watch him suffer and therefore the work of the Lewy Bodys charity is invaluable in understanding the causes of this illness and, maybe, finding a cure.

Dad always encouraged me to be active in sport rather than be a spectator. I've waited more than two years to get the mental strength but now I'm ready. This will be my third marathon but it's the first time I've said - "This one's for you, Dad".

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Personal note - Dad hated brackets being used in text - so hey! no brackets. He was hot on the misuse of apostrophes too  :)
