In memory of my Dad, to make him proud and to focus my energy I am taking on a few challenges... some of which I always said I would do; and some of which we had planned to do together. On 12th June I kicked off the action by running the St Albans Half marathon... I completed the 3 peaks 24hr challenge on 25th June in 21hrs 40mins. One sunny/rainy/windy weekend in August, I set off with Challenge Central for Snowdonia to take on the Welsh 3000s. The weather won and we were unable to complete the challenge, but spent 16hrs walking/scrambling off track up several of the peaks in all sorts of conditions. Good times, and definitely a challenge. I've now rebooked to take on this challenge again - 15th-17th June 2012... but before that I will be running/jogging/walking from London to Brighton - the full 100kms on 12th/13th May 2012... I'd best get training! The Boxing Day double dip was completed in Cromer, Norfolk - a chilly dip in the sea along with a few hundred other fundraisers! What's next... Everest Base Camp – leaving on 2 March! Something Dad was so enthusiastic about, we will be thinking of him as we take each step. And then London to Brighton/Paris by bike... Followed by a family trip to New Zealand to climb Mt Taranaki in December 2012 - this was definitely Dad’s idea. I'm raising money for Downs Syndrome Xtra 21, a charity which strives to promote equal opportunities for people with Down syndrome and offer support to them and their families.
