Refuge opened the world’s first refuge in West London in 1971. We support thousands of women & children every day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence.

Story

In a desperate search for a way to escape from the horrors of modelling knitwear for Jen's blog, I decided to enter the London Marathon. Training through the depths of winter will undoubtedly keep me from being in front of the camera as cold, wet, sweaty runners don't go at all well with cashmere scarves.

There are a number of serious reasons why I have chosen Refuge and I'll explain them here, along with more general posts about how I'm getting on. To a certain extent however, my decision to run for Refuge comes down to sibling rivalry. My sister ran for Refuge in 2011 and brother in 2012. Even before he'd finished, I was fielding, "Is it your turn next year?" comments. I can't really let the side down, can I?

Click through to the Refuge website to find out about the life-changing work they do. Please give what you can to this excellent cause.

Thank you very much.

Jim
