Story
In 2010 our friend Jim Poole was involved in a serious paragliding accident and he was incredibly lucky that Keswick Mountain Rescue and the Great Northern Air Ambulance came to the rescue. With their help Jim was escorted to hospital in Newcastle, action which mostly likely saved his life. To show our gratitude to the Great Northern Air Ambulance we’ve organising a sponsored cycle to Brighton.
The ride will take place on Sunday 15 May 2011. It’ll be around 55 miles and we’ll aim to be starting around 10 am. The planned route contains about 4 big hills but nothing that everyone shouldn’t be able to handle after a couple of months of training. The plan is then to head to a pub or similar in Brighton for beers and fish and chips and wait for everyone to arrive. This is certainly not a race and it doesn’t matter how long it will take everyone to get to Brighton. Novelty bikes and shopping trolleys are most welcome.
If 55 miles in the saddle for a worthy cause interests you then please feel free to get involved by emailing to david.rushmere@bt.com. If the idea alone is too much then please dig deep and give whatever you can. Every penny helps us to say thank you to an amazing team who saved the life of a very good friend.
If you would like to donate to Keswick Mountain Rescue then I have created another justgiving page which is available at www.justgiving.com/JimPooletoBrighton.
