For 6 weeks in September and October I'll be cycling from Vancouver to San Diego for Room to Read.

Not only will I be cycling 1850 miles in 6 weeks along one of the hilliest coasts around - I will also be reading a book every 500 miles - in Spanish!

The cycling part works out at c45 miles per day solo and unsupported. I won't cycle every day but every day I rest means I need to cycle double the next to catch up!

I'm learning Spanish so that I can teach English in Argentina during November  and travel in South America after that. So to keep up my Spanish learning while I'm cycling I'm going to read some (easy-ish) books in Spanish. It also ties in with the charity.

Room to Read is a charity that believes fundamentally changing the world starts with educating children. They work in partnership with local communities in the developing world to develop literacy skills by helping provide libraries and books. They also support girls from impoverished families to complete secondary school where they would otherwise not have the chance to get the education we all take for granted.
