Story

Dilly Dally Challenges..............

Since the age of four I have always had  challenges with my eyes. Starting with a lazy eye ;then at the age of sixteen suffering toxoplasmosis which led to permanent  blindness in my left eye;  and in 1991 being thumbed in my right eye playing rugby causing me to be partially sighted for six years.

More recently I suffered an accident which resulted in surgeons having to remove most of my right eye. I now have a special contact lens & some very chunky fetching glasses which help me to function on a daily basis.

So why am I telling you all of this? Well, it is definitely not to get any sympathy from you as I am completely happy with my lot, but hopefully to use my story to make you aware that there are people in the world functioning thanks to marvelous surgeons and wonderful charities which provide help & support to individuals & families.

One such charity is SENSE who help deaf and blind children to function and for more information of the amazing & wonderful work SENSE do,  please take a few minutes to visit their web site: http: www.sense.org.uk

I appreciate what it is like to lose my eyesight and still function but I could not begin to understand how those wonderful children keep smiling without two of their major senses but for the assistance and inspirational work SENSE do with them on a daily basis.

In order to try and give something back for  the care I have received over the decades, I have decided to try and raise with your assistance, £2000 for SENSE by completing the following DILLY DALLY CHALLENGES

Virgin London Marathon (26.2 miles) 17th April 2011

Cycle ride Leicester to Skegness (100 miles) 5th May 2011

Stockholm Marathon (26.2 miles) 28th May 2011

I understand in the current economic climate that money is tight but I would appreciate any donations or even assistance from you by asking your friends & colleagues to help dig deep &  raise this total.

Thank you for taking the time to read the above.

Big Hugs & thank you

Jimi
