Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and for the generous support you have provided. I've almost doubled my original goal and feel that I now need to go over the £1000!
As a patient at Southampton Eye Unit I have been receiving injections in my eye on a regular basis to retain my vision. Without research this treatment would not have been possible and I would now have now been expecting the gradual loss of most of my sight.
Critical research is being undertaken in the University of Southampton with projects using adult ocular stem cells, which will replace damaged cells at the back of the eye. Another study is researching gene therapy which will restore vision to people who have inherited a blinding eye condition. Needless to say funding is required to move the research forward quickly in order that new treatments and therapies can be available for patients.
I have decided that the quickest and most easy way for me to raise a significant sum to help is to jump out of an aeroplane. The good part of this idea is that I shall be strapped to a young man and at the age of ninety that will be quite a treat.
Please support me and help me meet my fundraising target.
