Aspire Channel Swim 2010 · 5 December 2010 ·

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

We did it!

On Saturday 4th December at 1:24:08 in the morning, the Isleham IceFish completed their 22 mile combined swim (202 lengths each), equivalent to crossing the English Channel,

The water was cold and choppy but these determined ladies were not to be beaten. It was not the chocolate or the thought of bed that was their motivation (although they helped), but the huge amount of money being raised for Aspire.

Thank you for all your support and your generous donations over the past few months. Special thanks to Chris Jennings who ended up being our coach and 'mile monitor' on the evening and for Marc Bowers and kids for surprising us with hot snacks at 2am,only to find that we'd finished and gone home! .

As we left the swimming baths the snow started falling and talk quickly turned to what our next challenge would be....followed by where we could get a burger and beer in Newmarket after midnight....now there's a real challenge!

Good Night (for now!)
