Mary Stevens Hospice provides specialist holistic care free of charge for adults with life-limiting illnesses and their families in the Dudley Borough. More than 80% of the £3.5m annual costs are paid for by donations and funds raised by supporters from a compassionate, local community.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  I have decided to run the Birmingham Half marathon to try to raise money for Mary Stevens Hospice in Stourbridge who helped to care for my mum when she was dying.   I'm not looking to achieve a fast time - but i'll be delighted to finish it!

The Mary Stevens Hospice provides services to those suffering from advanced cancer and other life-threatening and disabling diseases. The hospice supports patients and carers with practical, physical, emotional and spiritual care and provides comfort for those who are faced with serious illness, compromised quality of life, loss and grief. Care is given to patients free of charge, irrespective of background, race or religion. .

Running the Hospice each year costs approximately £2.25 million. People often think that the Hospice is funded totally by the NHS. They are unaware that whilst Mary Stevens does receive a small amount of funding from this source (18%) the remaining source of income (82%) is raised purely from voluntary contributions.
