Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page in support of Combat Stress.
Combat Stress is the leading UK charity that specialises in the care of Veterans’ mental health. Founded in 1919, the charity has supported Veterans from every campaign in which British forces have been involved since the First World War. It is currently supporting over 5000 ex-service men and women including 637 who served in Iraq and 284 who served in Afghanistan. Their youngest Veteran is just 20 years old.
Mental health problems have stigma attached in all walks of society and this stops those who need support approaching those who can help them. I believe that this is a really worthwhile cause and your money will help fund a range of services such as community outreach, 24 hour helpline, veterans PTSD treatment programme and raising wider awareness of Forces mental health issues to encourage others to come forward.
I am training to run the London Marathon on 21 Apr 13 with a target of completing it in less than 4 hours. My target is to raise over £2000 for Combat Stress, which means that for every mile marker that I pass I will raise another £75.
My Mum is baking and selling cakes, I will be running a sweep stake at work, there will be a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses in Wiltshire and the Army Cadets at my old School are planning a fund raising event too.
It would be fantastic if you could join them by donating money on this page and please don’t forget to tick the Gift Aid box.
Many thanks,
Jo
