I am now going to give up smoking for the charity The Association for Glycogen Storage Disease (UK) AGSD.
The Association for Glycogen Storage Disease (UK) provides support and help for individuals and families affected by GSD. It does this by putting people in contact, providing information, issuing Newsletters and holding Conferences and Workshops. Find out more about us and what we do by exploring the menus above or using the site map.
Glycogen is a stored form of glucose, which is used as a fuel for energy. Glycogen Storage Disease (GSD) occurs when there is an absence or deficiency of an enzyme needed to produce or break down glycogen in the body. GSD primarily affects the liver and/or muscles. For information about the different types of GSD use the links in the left panel..
My Goddaughter Megan was born with GSD type 9.
GSD is such a rare genetic disease that no one has really ever heard of it. For this reason I feel it is really important to raise awareness of the illness and how it effects the lives of the children and adults living with it every day!!
My best friend Natalie and her husband Paul (Megans parents) do everything they can to make Megans life as normal as they can and they do an excellent job in taking care of her 24/7.
