Story

Hello!!!  Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!!!!

This June I'm running to raise funds to rescue a Moon Bear from the Bile farms of China. I hope you can help me make this possible. If we can raise the money we are going to call the bear 'Manchester'.

These bears are imprisoned every hour of every day, in tiny coffin-like cages. Many have never seen the sun, touched a blade of grass or even stood up and will live and die in this cage. The cage is so small they can't turn around.

They are ‘milked’ for their bile through rusting catheters permanently implanted in their abdomens. The pain is unimaginable.

All funds raised by myself, my family and friends in Manchester, through a number of fundraising initiatives throughout the year, will go towards meeting the costs of rescuing one bear from a bear farm in China. Once we reach the figure of £5500 we will be able to call one of the rescued Moon Bear’s ‘ Manchester ’ and ‘ Manchester ’ will be able to live out his life of freedom at the Moon Bear Rescue Centre in China. The money raised helps to rescue the bear from a life of torture and pain on a bear farm in China, bring ‘Manchester’ to the rescue centre and will cover the veterinary, medicine and food costs for ‘Manchester’ in his/her first year at the rescue centre’

Bear bile, used in some traditional Chinese medicine as well as shampoo, soap and wine, is completely replaceable with equally effacious and cheaper synthetic and herbal alternatives.

Bears have terrible injuries from the process, which also results in many dying in agony. The bears suffer  huge trauma, bang their heads against the cage walls and others chew at their own legs in frustration. Many bears are missing limbs from hunters have cut them out of traps or have been brutally declawed. I was disgusted when I found out and could not believe that this actually goes on in the world and had to do something about it.

I found out all the information i needed from the charity the Animals Asia. I have never run a marathon before but I am determined to raise the money and save one bear, and raise awareness to stop Bile Bear farming.

Anyone who loves animals will want to help as much as I do. There are over 7000 bears living in these conditions and with our help Animals Asia can continue to rescue and rehabilitate them.

Please Sponsor me, I want to make a difference if I can, please help!!  You can donate as little or as much as you can afford!!
