Story
When I signed up for the half marathon I hadn't so much as been out for a jog in over 18 months - but 2 months in its been just the goal I needed to get my trainers on again and get fit.
I am hoping to raise money for Macmillan as they do a great job at supporting people with cancer and spend the time with cancer patients that our overstretched health service is unable to provide.
When I was diagnosed with lymphoma back in 2008 it was a Macmillan nurse who broke the news and went to great lengths to explain what this meant (late on a Friday night long after the other hospital staff had left) something that most definitely softened the blow and really helped.
I am very grateful - I am one of the lucky ones. I am back to full health and three years on there are currently no signs of it coming back. I am running this half marathon for the people I met during treatment who have not been so lucky. And for the one in three of us who will be diagnosed with cancer and may need the support of Macmillan in the future. I am also running it for myself to get fit and healthy to help remain cancer-free.
