** UPDATE ** - So happily me, my dodgy knee and some good painkillers finished the marathon in 4.03hrs! I couldn't quite make it under 4hrs but having not run in 6 weeks I can't be disappointed. Dad, I know you'd be proud of me : )
Thank you again to all my wonderful family and friends who have supported me through my training and helped me raise an amazing amount of money, I couldn't have done it without you!! XX
*** BREAKING NEWS - Due to the amazing generosity so far of family and friends, I have decided to double my fundraising target to £800! Hopefully I will now be able to raise even more money for this great cause! Thanks again for your support! ***
Hi everyone, thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page!
Since letting people know I'm running the Edinburgh Maraton this year, the most common repsonse I've had is "are you mad!" or "why would you do that?". Well I can tell you I am doing it for a very good reason!
As many of you will know, my dearest dad passed away in November 2010 after a very short but bravely fought battle with lung cancer. Through the difficult last months, the nurses from MacMillan cancer support and Sam Beare Hopsice helped my family immeasurably and made getting through each day that little bit easier.
It is recognition of these kind people, the charities that make their roles possible and most importantly in memory of my dad and his unfaltering love and support for me throughout my life, that I have decided to take this exciting (and crazy!) challenge of running a marathon.
I have already been training hard for 10 weeks now and all is going really well! My body is not yet broken and fingers crossed it will stay this way over the next 10 weeks leading up to the event : )
Please dig deep and donate now so that I can raise lots of money for this important cause and to keep me motivated for the hundereds of training miles I still have to run before the 27th May!
A big thanks from me X
