Story

Wow I did it! My first triathlon.

As the day grew nearer I grew more and more concerned that things would go wrong - would I get a puncture? Would I get cramp in my foot when I'm swimming as I often do in training? Would I be able to make my legs work on the run after cycling hard for 16 miles?

Well despite all these worries and many more, I'm glad to say that on the day all went according to plan! My 16 lengths in the pool were fine and no cramp in toes, I leapt out of the pool, ran to the transition area, pulled on a jacket as it was a chilly morning, cycle helmet, and of course socks and shoes and took my bike to that start of the 16 mile route. This was 2 laps of the same 8 mile route, which was a long climb on the way out and a nice quick desecent on the return leg. The run was the worst bit, as my legs were so tired by then but I kept going and collapsed in a happy heap at the end.

I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all the kind people who have sponsored me to raise funds for the Tyneside Rape Crisis centre. (and if you were going to, but forgot until now, it's not too late! Every little counts!)
