Virgin London Marathon 2011 · 17 April 2011 ·

Every year we support thousands of children and families right across the country. We provide rehabilitation to help children make the best recovery possible after a serious accident or illness, both at our national specialist centre in Tadworth and in the community.

Story

As some of you will already know (and for some of you this will come as a bit of a shock!) I have signed up to run the Virgin London Marathon in April next year! After watching the event on TV and cheering in the crowd I decided that I wanted to have a go and raise some money for charity. Unfortunately I am a self-confessed 'non-runner' who up until a few months ago struggled to complete 15 minutes on a treadmill! The early morning gym sessions and long runs, in what can only be described as Arctic conditions, are getting tougher and your support would really help me into my running shoes and out into the snow!

I really wanted to do this as a personal challenge but also in memory of some special people, the loss of whom has made me think that life really is too short and it's time to get up and do something!

The charity that I am running for is The Children's Trust which provides care, education, therapy and rehabilitation to children with multiple disabilities, complex health needs and acquired brain injury. The services they offer include the UK's largest paediatric brain injury rehabilitation centre, support in the community for children and young people with acquired brain injury, The School for Profound Education for pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties, short breaks, transitional, palliative and long-term nursing care. I have pledged to raise £1600 and need your help to do so!

Please can you sponsor me for this event - anything at all will be greatly appreciated by the charity and your generosity will push me on through those long runs that are looming ahead on my training programme! Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now!

THANK YOU!
