My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Hi all, we are raising money for my niece Kaitlyn who was born with a life threatening condition called TOFS which meant she had to have emergency surgery within 24 hours of being born and remained in intensive care for the first two weeks of her life. She is recovering well but also only has one ear and no hearing at all on her right hand side. She can have an operation to repair this and rebuild an ear via rib graft surgery at age 11 with the NHS but it can be done privately at approximately aged 6. She can also get a type of bionic hearing mechanism implanted into her head on the side that doesnt work but the NHS wont pay for it because the other side is working fully. So we have all decided to raise enough money for her to get these operations when she is older and stronger and hopefully before she starts school. Your money will give her full hearing and the chance to have a new prosthetic ear before she is really old enough to remember there ever having been a problem. In turn we hope that things such as school will be easier for her and that her disability wont effect her as much physically or psychologically.
