Virgin London Marathon 2010 · 25 April 2010 ·

Get Kids Going! helps disabled children take part in sport by providing specialist sports wheelchairs, sports grants and year round support. They can then compete in marathons, triathlons, tennis, athletics, skiing, rugby, basketball etc. With your help, many could become Paralympic champions and world record holders.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
My name is Joanne, and I am in training to run the London Marathon.

I have never run a marathon before and up until a couple of months ago I had never trained to run at all.  I am just a short 3 months away from this event. So let me tell you what it is like to train for a marathon, and what has happened to me in my training and my commitment along the way.

I believe the hardest thing about running a marathon is not the actual marathon, but the training leading up to it. I need to train 5 days a week, speed running, hills, long distance running. It all takes a toll and it requires determination, discipline, focus and commitment. I have needed to stay injury free, motivated, and committed to the end result.

So far the only injury I have had was as a result of high heals on a snowy night out, which set me back a few weeks. So until the event the only shoes I will be wearing will be trainers and UGG boots.

I am raising funds in support of keep kids going and the money raised is going to a fantastic cause and your support is very much appreciated.

I only have 12 weeks left of training to prepare my spirit, mind, and body and to raise £2,000.

I need your help!

So please sponsor me now!
