We fund life-changing and life-saving work to support cancer patients at The Christie

Story

I was devastated when I was diagnosed 7 years ago with breast cancer at age 38.  My children were only 5 months and 2.5 years old.  I had always watched my diet and exercised, I used to run prior to having children and started up again a year after I had breast cancer treatment.  My passion though is cycling and I love to get out on my mountain bike and cycle around the Saddleworth hills either on my own or with my lovely friends Charlotte Coleman or Angela Chapman

On the 15th February 2013 I launched my web site www.abcdiagnosis.co.uk it has everything to do with after a breast cancer diagnosis - reconstruction information with patient pictures, surgeons, hosptial information, cancer networks as well as diet and exercise.  I  provide links to other useful sites and keep you up to date with the latest news and information from around the world on my Twitter and Facebook accounts.

I remember tweeting a news report about a local lady called Susan Welch about her radical liver surgery whilst having secondary breast cancer.  After seeing my tweet Susan asked her Oncologist Dr Greg Wilson to contact me to see if I could support or help Susan to raise awareness of her charity appeal.  Since then we have become friends and we meet at The Christie hospital when having treatments.

The 15th February 2014 marked 7 years after my breast cancer diagnosis.  Unfortunately, just 4 days before on the 10th Feb 2014 I was diagnosed with a reoccurrence.  Prior to this I had been running and cycling around 50k a week to keep fit and healthy.

I am now being treated by The Christie Hospital and I have committed myself to do the Manchester to Blackpool bike ride on Sunday 13th July 2014.  My husband and 23 friends and family listed below have also decided to do this with me in support which is truly amazing...

I am currently on chemotherapy and will not finish my treatment until September 2014 but am still hoping to be able to complete this ride to raise money for Dr Greg Wilson's Breast Cancer and Lymphoedema fund at The Christie Charity.

I hope you will support me and my friends on this undertaking as it's not going to be an easy ride (!) especially whilst I'm still on chemotherapy treatment.

Thank you

P.s. If you would like to join the team to do the cycle ride then please contact me via twitter @abcdiagnosis or email info@abcdiagnosis.co.uk

If you want to meet up on the day to support us then we'd love to see you :-)
