ADRA-UK is part of the ADRA Network, a global humanitarian organisation that demonstrates God’s love and compassion. We enable women, men and children living in some of the world’s poorest communities to create sustainable pathways out of poverty and distress.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I donate to a number of charities but I collect annually for one charity in particular ADRA-UK.  2013 marks ADRA-UK's 100th year of collecting for people in need.

Although not well known in the United Kingdom ADRA do great work in the UK (special needs programme, with a special needs camp in Wales offering respite care as welll as other support) and around the world (working in partnership with governmental donors) providing medical support, famine support, educational programmes and disaster relief.

In particular ADRA will be providing funds for water aid projects via bore holes to rural communities in Burkina Faso which will help give them access to clean water.  In additional to the water aid project ADRA will be providing help for 30 "bamboo" schools in Myanmar so the Karen state can have access to primary education and trained teachers.

Further information can be obtained regarding 2013 appeal via http://helpustohelp.org.uk/ webpage.

I was wondering if you could ask you to donate say anything between £5 - £10 the price of a meal out, if you can find such a bargain now a days, via this webpage.

Wow I can’t believe in this time of austerity, where no fault of their own a number of organisations\charities are unable to function, that ADRA is celebrating their 100 year of door to door collection.

Here are some facts about ADRA-UK

·        *    Donations in 2012 helped fund projects valued at over £4.5 million with government funding.

·       *     ADRA-UK ranks within the top 1000 charities in the UK in terms of funding.  (There are over 150,000 registered charities in the UK)

·         *    Fundraising collectors are volunteers and therefore do not earn a commission or wage on all donations collected.

·         *    9% of donated money is used on overheads. Did you know that this is amongst the lowest in the sector?

·         *    Also when money is donated to ADRA-UK, something amazing happens.  For every £1 that ADRA-UK puts into a project, a donor organisation can add up to £9.  That means that £1 has become £10.  ADRA-UK can now use that £10 to make a bigger difference.
