Nearly 3 million newborn deaths every year is too many, we all have a responsibility to shout for support for newborns, for the soon-to-be-born, and for their mothers who so often are at risk of dying or suffering serious injury in trying to bring a new life into the world. In Vietnam neonatal mortality accounts for 50% of under five deaths. The lack of appropriately trained health workers, nurse and doctors in neonatal care is a major factor.

At the end of my ride I will meet the nurses, who thanks to the nurse training my cycle ride is helping to fund, will become the champions for newborns and their families in some of the poorest provinces in central Vietnam.
