Over 150 colleagues from the Cobham and Dartford offices of Willmott Dixon Construction will be taking part in the 2016 Cobham Challenge - Lake District Legacy!
This year we will be raising funds for support Chestnut Tree House, this is the only children's hospice in East and West Sussex and cares for over 280 children and young adults from 0-25 years of age with progressive life-limiting conditions from Sussex and South East Hampshire. There are potentially 1000 families with life-limited children in Sussex. Chestnut Tree House offers support for the whole family including psychological and bereavement support, end of life and short break care and sibling support.
As our name suggests we are heading for the Lakes! Our challenge will take place by the lake of Ullswater commencing 24th June.
Our team will undertake a challenge like no other, why? So we can make a difference.
Our two day challenge will of four activities running concurrently although the main purpose of the challenge is to raise much needed funds for Chestnut Tree House we can guarantee the weekend will be full of fun, laughter and determination as we work together to create our Legacy.
Day 1
- A punishing 6 mile hike in Blencathra, Bruntt Knott and Souther Fell
- A challenging 16 mile mountain bike through Whinlatter forrest
- A Challenging 43 miles road cycle though the northern Lake District
Day 2
- A marathon 26 mile hike summiting Scarfell & Helvelyn
- A 13 mile hike summiting Helvelyn followed immediately by a 13 mile team canoe event, travelling the length of Ullswater and back
- A 45 mile mountain bike route taking in some of the Ullswater circuit and summiting Helvelyn
- A 90 mile or alternative 121 mile road cycle taking in all of the major lakes amd exploring the National Park.
I will be doing the 6 mile hike on Day 1 and the 13 mile hike followed by the 13 mile canoe on Day 2.
