HYT supports sustainable development in Uganda by using environmentally friendly technologies. British volunteers & Ugandans work together improving lives, providing employment opportunity by constructing water tanks & low cost buildings & training young Africans in useful, practical skills.

Story

Hellooo everyone from Jinja, Uganda! This is my just giving page, which is my fundraising effort on behalf of HYT, the Haileybury Youth Trust. I have been in Uganda for three weeks now with one to go, and have been teaching classes of 80-100 students in several schools, and helping to build and paint classrooms and water tanks. Whilst out here I have met many people doing similar hugely needed work, many of whom work for the Haileybury Youth Trust. They help, train and provide the locals with all they require to build essential structures such as classrooms and watertanks from ISSB blocks (interlocking stabilised soil blocks), which is an affordable and environmentally freindly construction technique.

So in order to help out their effort, next saturday I will be running 24km through the scorching Ugandan heat, in the hope of doing what I can to contribute. So that is what I will do, regardless of how much I raise. Anything you can contribute to this cause will be hugely appreciated, and will go towards improving the lives of the school children of Uganda. So a big thankyou from me, and from the children of Uganda. Take care, Joe.
