Can you believe that Joe Deegan would even consider such a crazy stunt ?—“He must be mad”—Well it is official—He is !!!
Well things can change and events in our lives sometimes make us re-evaluate what makes us tick and what things in life are important to us.
As you may know the year just gone has been such a life changing year for me and my family.
In June 2012 (opening ceremony of the Olympic games) my dear wife Sharon was found unconscious and was put on a life support system .
You can imagine the impact on us as a family but thankfully she came round and after a whole series of tests it was found that she had a brain tumour.
Within a matter of days the neuro surgeons had performed their miracle and had removed the tumour.
The operation has been followed by a full year of intensive chemo and radio therapy treatments.
Sharon is a resilient girl and she is fighting her illness with fortitude and spirit—those of you who know her will certainly recognise these traits.
The medical teams involved in her treatment have given her exemplary care.
We are also supported by BTRS –Brain Tumour Research and Support across Yorkshire who raise funds for medical research into this condition and to offer support for patients and their families.
I personally would like to give something back in support of this worthy cause.
At Rex Procter & Partners we have nominated BTRS as our charity of the year and we have a whole series of fund raising initiatives which are being fully supported by all our staff including “Wear a hat day” , dress down days, quiz nights, 3 peaks, Welsh 3000s etc etc.
I tend to shy away from the tough physical stuff but surely it must be easy to walk along a cabin and jump out of a door at 10,000feet !!!
Too late now—the Doctors Certificate has been signed and I am going for it.
Inevitably there is a bit of pain in having to call upon the good nature once again of all my family, friends, business associates and companies I work with but could I just make an appeal once again to your good nature and ask that you support this worthy cause.
For further information on Brain Tumours and the work of BTRS please go to www.btrs.org.uk
I would simply ask that you give me your support in whatever way you can--however small or large it all counts.
The jump will take place in Lincolnshire on Sunday 29 September 2013
Chocks away—here I go—to infinity and beyond !!!!!!!!
Thanks again--Joe, Sharon and family xx
