How did I do?

Well, I finished in 470th place out of 575 starters so that's 105 from the last position. The winner finished in just over 21 minutes and I took over 38. The course was more hilly that I expected and I found the race very tough. Having said that I enjoyed the event immensely and am looking forward to doing it all again next year.

I've recently brought a Brompton bicycle (you can see my sister on it in the photo) and when I heard there was a World Championship http://tempuri.org/tempuri.html for this make of bike, it sounded like fun and I had to enter.

I don't know what I'm letting myself in for as I've never entered a race (cycling or otherwise) since leaving school! The race is 13.5 km long and I gather there will be far better, fitter riders than myself taking part. I have no idea how long it's going to take me, therefore instead of the traditional way of sponsoring how quickly or far I do the event, sponsor me on how many places I end up from the back of a field of up to 600! The thought of raising money for Treetops Hospice will spur me on to keep going until the finish line.
