Cheltenham's Half Marathon 2017 · 1 October 2017 ·

The King’s Trust supports 11 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed or struggling at school to get their lives on track. Many of the young people we support are in or leaving care, have been in trouble with the law, or they are facing challenges such as homelessness or mental health issues.

Story

"I am an artist".

This was the final sentence that a young ambassador from The Prince's Trust proudly exclaimed, after delivering a heartbreaking personal story to a room-full of people she'd never met before.

Having to stay at home and be a full-time carer for her mother, while she should have been at school, this individual missed a lot of opportunities that most of us take for granted.

She was just one example of a young person that had been in need of substantial and effective help.

Luckily, The Prince's Trust were there to help and provide that much needed support.

Being one of those people within the room-full, I witnessed a young person begin her story by referring to themselves as 'nothing' and ending the journey with a defiant 'I AM AN ARTIST'!!

I want others to have this sense of worth. Sense of pride. Sense of defiance.

The Prince's Trust offer that opportunity.

But they need our help!

I'm running the Cheltenham Half Marathon as a way of raising awareness and much needed funds, so that we can have more young people announce themselves as an artist, and rid that feeling of nothingness.

Please feel free to give generously.

Thanks,

Joe
