Story

On 2nd June 2012, I will be joining 33 Lloyds colleagues for a trek to the Everest Base Camp. The Everest Base Camp trek is probably one of the most famous and one of the toughest treks to take on. Definitely a great challenge for me, for which I have now started to train.

Reason why I am doing this trek is to raise money for the "Save The Children's FAST programme".  Families and Schools Together has a proven track record of success and is endorsed by the UN and the Children's Workforce Development Council. Its aim is to help underprivileged children to get a better start in life by bridging the gap between families and school. It is indeed proven that 85% of a child's success is dependent upon the support its parents are able to provide outside of school. Our aim is to raise in excess of £140,000 together and I need to raise at least £4,000 (€4,800), so I need your help to reach my target!

Our adventure will begin at Lukla, Nepal. From there, we will trek into the Himalayas, where we will reach the highest point on the trek at Kala Pattar at 5,545m (c. 18,200 feet). Once at the summit we will push on to our ultimate destination, the Everest Base Camp. The trek will last 12 days over 75 miles (120 km) in very rough terrain.

I am hugely looking forward to this challenge, and would very much appreciate you digging deep and donating for this great cause.
