Invest in ME Research has, as its objective, to change how myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) is perceived, treated and researched. We do this by raising funding for biomedical research and improving education about the disease. We are currently facilittaing high-quality biomedical research in UK/Europe

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As some of you will know, my wife Jackie has suffered from ME for nearly 25 years. She is severely disabled by the illness, and has to use a wheelchair to get about. She's been unable to pursue her profession as a teacher, though as a very creative and resourceful person, she has still achieved much despite it all, and despite the stigma that still attaches to this illness. It is estimated there are several hundred thousand ME sufferers in the UK alone, and a great many of them seriously ill like Jackie.  Even today, decades after the term 'yuppie flu' was used flippantly and negatively to describe ME, there is still a desperate need to fund more  biomedical research into physical causes and properly effective treatments for the illness, particularly for those like Jackie who are severely affected. Invest in ME is busy fighting that battle. Thanks for your support!
