It seemed like a good idea at the time several months ago , now as time gets nearer I'm maybe not so sure!
I love cycling and I love travelling in New Zealand where my eldest son Dan lives with his wife Nichola and my two grandaughters. So to combine the two and raise money for an amazing place like St Richards Hospice in Worcester is my ambition.
I will be riding from Napier on North Island down to Wellington , take the Interislander Ferry over the Sound to Picton on South Island , down to Christchurch and the over the Southern Alps to Queenstown where Dan lives. A total of approx 900 miles or 1449 kms if you prefer! I will be starting on 6th February 2012 and hope to complete the trip in 3 to 4 weeks . You can follow my progress on an internet Blog I will keep accessible via my company web site www.startin-honda.com.
Please support me in raising much needed funds for St Richards
SStReg. Charity No. 515668
St Richard's Hospice provides free specialist palliative care for patients living with cancer and other life threatening illnesses and supports there families. Each year the hospice team supports over 2200 patient and family members in Worcestershire. Patients are cared for in the Day Hospice , the 16 bed In-patient Unit or in there own homes by a specialist professional team as well as many trained volunteers. In-patient Unit specialists are on hand 24 hours a day to manage patients symptoms and where, if they so choose , patients may spend the last few days of life in comfort and dignity.
The Snowdrops Community Care Centre allows St Richards to expand its services across the community. The new annex will allow the Home Care Team of nurses, Hospice at Home carers and Family Support Team to help more people and to meet the ever increasing demand towards the £5.4m they need to raise this year to continue there work.
