On 2nd October, I will be heading to the Grand Canyon to run alongside my two younger brothers, down the south rim, across the Colorado River, and up the north rim. The 22 mile route will include an elevation drop of 5,000 feet from the south rim to the Colorado River, then 6,000 feet up the north rim. This is not a supported event. There will be a total of four of us running, supporting each other and carrying whatever necessary supplies with us.
Eunice Burns was a truly lovely person, hard working and always with a smile on her face. She was Loved by many. I was lucky enough and extremely proud to have her as my Grandma. Diagnosed with Alzheimer's the family painfully watched the disease progress and over the years that wonderful character slowly fade, until eventually she lost her long battle. Our goal is to raise awareness and crucial funds to support research into the prevention and cure of Alzheimer's and ALS. The two are equally cruel diseases. The cause is close to our hearts and we'll be grateful of every penny we raise.
Rob (my least favourite brother!) suggested that If we were to reach our team fundraising goal, we will run back from the North Rim to the South Rim and do another 22 miles the very next day! So for friends of mine that might be incentivised to see me in pain, sponsor away! And I will run, walk and crawl back the next day! Or don't!! I appreciate times are hard!!!!
Thanks for reading.
