Latest update: On 12 and 13 May, I successfully completed the 32 mile walk! I will shortly be uploading some photos of my progress, so you can see some of the highlights of my journey.
A big thank you to everyone who has donated to my fundraising efforts. Every penny will help to make a difference for children in Cameroon. Your generosity helped to keep me going all the way to the end, even when my legs and feet were telling me it was time to stop! A big thank you also goes to Liz (my Mum) who walked with me on day 1 and Geoff (my Dad) and Eric (my father in law) walked with me on day 2 and kept me going when I was finding it tough towards the end. This web page is still open for donations, so if you haven't yet had time to donate, there is still time to support this fantastic cause. Many thanks for your support. John

On 12 and 13 May I am going to walk the 32 mile London stretch of the river Thames – from Teddington Lock to the Thames Barrier. I will be raising money for Building Schools for Africa, a charity which works to fund the construction of schools in remote villages in some of the poorest areas of Cameroon.
Their aim is to enable children in Cameroon to benefit from a full course of primary education.
They do this by working with communities to build well-constructed schools. They also provide schools with:
· a supply of clean drinking water;
· books, teaching materials and equipment; and
· hygienic sanitation facilities, including segregated toilets.
Their projects also help to ensure the sustainability of the schools by supporting the community in developing ongoing income streams.
I have set a fundraising target of £500 as this would fund the construction of a clean water supply to one of the 3 schools that they hope to build this year. This would provide safe drinking water for the children and the whole local community, helping to safeguard against life threatening illnesses such as Cholera and Typhoid.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Please give as generously as you can and help make a real difference for children in Cameroon.
