BUPA Great North Run 2009 · 20 September 2009 ·

The MS Society exists to make life better for people living with MS. By the end of 2011 we’ll no longer directly provide respite care. As a Woodlands' supporter we guarantee every £ you donate will be used to support people accessing respite care in the Yorkshire area now, during 2011 and beyond.

Story

Hey all,

As some of you may know, I'll be dodging sweaty celebrities in the Great North Run this September for the MS respite care centre Woodlands that I did some volunteering for whilst I was at York.

MS is a deeply insidious degenerative disease and you might be surprised by just how many people it affects, including people like Jacqueline du Pre, Clive Burr (Iron Maiden's drummer), Richard Pryor and William Hartnell, the first Doctor Who. Adam Sandley, J.K. Rowling and Michelle Obama all have family members with the disease. My Grandad had it.

So if you can spare any pennies to keep me running up that hill (pictured!) it is much appreciated. Jostling through the masses in Newcastle and being left behind by 60 year old members of my local running club will be all the easier with your support!

John
