Caring can have a dramatic effect on young carers’ lives. Almost a third of young carers have serious educational difficulties at secondary school with many failing to attain any qualifications. They may need to take time off from school to care for someone and can fall behind with their school work. In addition to this, young carers often experience bullying and isolation from their peers.

Yet schools are often unaware that there are young carers in their midst. Of the young carers we currently support, up to 75% of their schools did not realise they were a young carer.

We ask you to support this event for all the young people in our community who do an exceptional job looking after sick and disabled parents and siblings. They deserve all the support from each and every one of us. Both John and Keith will be financing themselves to complete this challenge. Please give generously.
