Story
In early August 2018, I will embark on a 62-mile trek across Greenland with 99 HSBC colleagues from around the globe! We will be trekking over 12 miles per day for five consecutive days across tundra and glaciers during this remote expedition on the world’s largest island. I will be carrying my own camping gear and personal articles for this entire journey and roughing it along the way.
Why I am doing this you may ask?
Well, the global water crisis is a severe problem for so many throughout the world. Over 663 million people (or roughly 10% of the world’s population) live without clean water to drink. Eight hundred children die every day from the diseases caused by lack of safe water, sanitation and hygiene.
Everyone should have access to clean water and sanitation in today's day and age. This accessibility should not only be reserved for developed nations. These impacted communities, villages and rural areas are comprised of people just like you and me, so many of whom have not been given opportunities extended to me and my fellow colleagues. And as human beings we have a choice, either make the world a better place or just keep taking. I am choosing to give back, raise funds and make an indelible mark on this situation with the assistance of WaterAid, a leading international NGO actively working to combat this crisis. They transform lives and are determined to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone everywhere by 2030.
I truly hope that you will support me in this worthy cause!!
